Shaon D. — software engineer, former Meta, now running his own AI-powered start-up with zero human employees — had one line that every mid-market business owner needs to hear:

"If a small business or any medium-sized business is not thinking about AI right now, they will be replaced or overtaken by businesses that are augmenting humans with AI by the end of this year."

End of this year. Not five years. Not next decade.

He also said something that doesn't get said enough:

It costs him a couple of thousand dollars a month in AI subscriptions to run his entire company.

Cheaper than hiring a human.

His words.

I'm not sharing this to create panic.

I'm sharing it because the businesses I work with that are moving on this now are already pulling ahead.

The ones waiting for more certainty are falling behind — they just can't see it yet.

The gap isn't going to announce itself.

It'll just quietly show up in your margins, your response times, and your ability to compete on price.

The question isn't whether AI will affect your business. It already is. The only question is whether you're on the right side of it.
